What’s Going on in the Plant-Based World – Week of 08/23/20

  • Bourne Brilliant is a newly-opened Florida-based vegan eatery that was founded by three Black sisters–aged 13, 12, and 9. “We want to carry it on in our family for generations,” the sisters said. Read more.
  • Dunkin’ is now offering oat milk at *all* of its U.S. locations through a collaboration with the brand Planet Oat. Guests can substitute oat milk in any Dunkin’ beverage in place of dairy milk, almond milk, or cream. Read more.
  • Calling all View Askewniverse fans! Mooby’s, the fictional restaurant that appears in many of Kevin Smith’s films, will be opening as a pop-up shop in Smith’s hometown of Red Bank, NJ in September. Smith went vegan in 2018 after a health scare, and the Mooby’s menu reflects this, promising extensive vegan options. Read more.
  • The International Vegan Film Festival has announced it will go entirely virtual this year. The festival will take place from October 10 – 17, and feature digital screenings, panels, filmmaker Q&As and more. Read more.
