On Monday April 20,
VSSJ had its first virtual cooking demonstration, Breakfast Ideas to Keep You Healthy.
Presenter Karen Burzichelli made a smoothie bowl and oatmeal and had some great cooking tips for everyone.
• handful of greens: kale, spinach, mixed greens,
etc (fresh or frozen)
• 1 frozen banana
• 1/2 cup frozen fruit (mango, pineapple,
strawberries, blueberries, acaí, etc)
• 1 tsp flax seed
• 1 tsp chia seed or basil seeds
• 1 tsp amla powder
• 1 tsp beet powder
Blend in blender until smooth. (May need to add a little liquid, but watch it.
If you add too much, it will become a smoothie.)
Top with more fruit, unsweetened coconut, and/or optional drizzle of almond or peanut butter.
• 1 cup regular or steel-cut oats
• 1/4 cup frozen banana
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp flax seeds
• 1 tsp chia seeds or basil seeds
• 1 Tbsp walnuts, chopped
non-dairy milk (to make creamier)
raisins, pumpkin, allspice, chopped apples, fruit
